This guy has quite a few things to learn about cutting a tree branch. His first step might be to use a saw meant for wood.

Can I return a vehicle after I purchased it?
Juanita
Reserve, Louisiana
Dear Juanita:
Some sites claim a car buyer's "cooling off period" varies from state to state, but to the best of our knowledge, there is no such law.
Utah's Division of Consumer Protection explains that some car dealerships may offer individual deals that allow buyers to return recently purchased cars and apply their value toward another car. However, this isn't a law and is solely at the discretion of the dealer.
Same deal with California. The state's Department of Motor Vehicles explains there is "no 'cooling off' period on vehicles purchased from a dealer unless you obtain a contract cancellation option." In other words, unless you have something in writing, the car is yours.
And according to Car Buying Tips, "Contrary to popular belief, most states don't have a three day 'Buyers Remorse' law for car buying."
The moral? Avoid impulse purchases, read the fine print, and do your homework before you sign on the dotted line.

Simple Operation
A man was wheeling himself frantically down the hall of the hospital in his wheelchair, just before his operation. A nurse stopped him and asked, "What's the matter?"
He said, "I heard the nurse say, 'It's a very simple operation, don't worry, I'm sure it will be all right.'"
"She was just trying to comfort you, what's so frightening about that?"
"She wasn't talking to me. She was talking to the doctor!"

What's the estimated land value of Central Park in New York?
Trevor
Alliston, Ontario
Dear Trevor:
Why, you interested in making a bid? Crack open your piggy bank, then. In a Christmas-day cover story last year, "New York Magazine" cited one of the "Reasons to Love New York" as "Because We Wouldn't Trade a Patch of Grass for $528,783,552,000."
That's the estimated worth of all the land in Central Park. (Here are some numbers used in the estimate.) In case the sight of that figure fried your numerical recognition, that's nearly 529 billion dollars. That prices out to about $627 million an acre, or 26% more than the entire 2006 U.S. defense budget, or 7 million times the price of Boardwalk and Park Place together. Considering that New York "paid more than $5 million for undeveloped land from 59th Street to 106th Street" between 1853 and 1856, that's pretty good appreciation.
But even if the city needed the money, it might not want to sell off its giant patch-of-green-amidst-the-concrete. Real estate pundit Jonathan Miller writes "the net value of all of Manhattan would be less after Central Park was developed." And this article from the electronic journal "Planning & Markets" states: "...the city council keeps Manhattan's Central Park unbuilt not because Greens rule the Big Apple, but because property values overall are higher with the park than with luxury condos on the site."

The Perfect Husband
Several men are in the locker room of their private golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker-function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen.
The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape..... Then he smiles and asks: "Anyone know who this phone belongs to?"
- MAN: "Hello."
- WOMAN: "Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?"
- MAN: "Yes."
- WOMAN: "I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only $1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?"
- MAN: "Sure, go ahead if you like it that much."
- WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2006 models. I saw one I really liked"
- MAN: "How much?"
- WOMAN: "$89,999."
- MAN: "OK, but for that price, you want it with all the options."
- WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing ..... The house I wanted last year is back on the market. They're asking $950,000."
- MAN: "Well, then, why not go ahead and give them an offer of $900,000. They will probably take it. If not, you can go the extra 50 thousand. It is a fairly good price."
- WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you so much!! THANK YOU!!!"
- MAN: "Bye! I love you, too."
The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are staring at him in astonishment, mouths agape..... Then he smiles and asks: "Anyone know who this phone belongs to?"

Grandmother jailed for drug trafficking
TUCSON (UPI) -- A 62-year-old bingo playing grandmother got three years in an Arizona prison for transporting more than 200 pounds of marijuana near Tucson.
Leticia Villareal-Garcia was also fined $150,000 Friday, The New York Times reported.
Police were tipped off she would be transporting the drugs on her way to a casino in Tucson to play bingo. The 214 pounds of pot were found hidden in her car trunk.
At her trial in November, she claimed her son's godfather briefly borrowed her car the day before the bust and her attorney claimed she was a "blind mule," tricked into ferrying the drugs.
But, prosecutor Doyle Johnstun said she played bingo almost every night and her only income beside her bingo winnings was a $275 monthly welfare check. He said she had a motive to move the drugs.
"The underlying issue is that she's got a bingo problem," said Johnston, "which explains why an otherwise nice person might get sucked into something like this."

Blind, 94-year-old bowler still rolling
CENTRALIA, Wash. (UPI) -- Esther Medley of Centralia, Wash., can't bowl as many games as she used to, she's legally blind and 94, but she still manages to roll over 200 on occasion.
Medley isn't about to give up the sport she's been doing so well for so many years -- only now she bowls by sound instead of by sight. She even met her current husband at Fairway Lanes in 1979.
On a recent outing, the Seattle Times reports Medley threw three strikes while warming up. Her high game is a 287.
Medley and her 86-year-old husband, Ralph, plan to celebrate their 27th wedding anniversary Friday by going bowling, of course.

Valuable necklace stolen from Sam's Club
CARROLLWOOD, Fla. (UPI) -- Florida thieves made off with a necklace worth $263,574 from Sam's Club -- a store better known for bulk toilet paper and food than diamonds and jewels.
"If somebody is not familiar with Sam's Club, they will be pleasantly surprised," said company spokeswoman Susan Koehler told the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times. "That's the fun of it. When you go in, you never know what you're going to find."
The store in Carrollwood, owned by Wal-Mart, is open to shoppers who pay an annual fee.
There have been no arrests in the Tuesday night heist, the newspaper said.
There was no word on whether any cartons of toilet paper were also missing.
